Document Description
The proposed project replaces the structurally deficient two-track railroad bridge that crosses Los Gatos Creek and provides a tail track south of San Jose Diridon Station in order to: (1) Ensure safe rail travel for Caltrain passengers and other users of the Los Gatos Creek railroad bridge; (2) Improve operations at the San Jose Diridon Station and provide an efficient way to trains to change directions; and, (3) Minimize system-wide delays by providing a temporary, emergency layover area. Existing rail services across the bridge will be maintained during construction. The new bridge will be wider than the original with the two new main tracks located in their same alignment and a west side expansion to accommodate the tail track required to improve operations at the Diridon Station.
