Document Description
The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) certified a Final EIR and approved the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project (Project) on February 25, 2025. The purpose of the Project is to seismically retrofit, maintain, and operate Anderson Dam and Reservoir to meet dam safety requirements, while avoiding and minimizing environmental impacts of the implementation of those safety requirements. The Project also includes decommissioning the hydroelectric facility at the dam, implementing Conservation Measures, and continuing to operate and maintain the dam once the retrofit has been completed.
Addendum No. 1 was prepared to address minor changes to the Project design that have occurred since certification of the Final EIR and Project approval. The changes to the Project evaluated in the Addendum involve the construction of an intake tower instead of a sloping intake structure on the upstream right abutment of Anderson Dam in order to enhance seismic reliability. Changes also include construction of a temporary dike along Coyote Creek, 1,000 feet downstream of the dam, in Year 1 instead of Year 2 to reduce the time needed to construct the Stage 2 Diversion System.
