Document Description
Sacramento Suburban Water District (SSWD) proposes to temporarily transfer to Dudley Ridge Water District (DRWD) and Kern County Water Agency (KCWA) collectively, a total of 3,366 acre-feet of water made available by pumping groundwater in lieu of diverting surface water under its Wholesale Water Supply Agreement Between the City of Sacramento and Sacramento Suburban Water District. The City of Sacramento has petitioned for, and the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) has approved, a change in the place of use of the transfer water. The transfer water will flow down the Sacramento to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, where it will be pumped by DWR at SWP Banks Pumping Plant and conveyed to DRWD's and KCWA's service areas. This temporary transfer is intended to alleviate water shortages within their service areas due to ongoing dry conditions and would not support new development.
