The Project includes the following components: (1) removing and relocating an existing barbed wire fence, (2) placing and compacting soil fill with a 2:1 slope between MP 6.33 and MP 6.60, (3) excavating and reconstructing the road shoulder, (4) placing and compacting aggregate base for the expansion of the paved road section, (5) placing and compacting new asphalt concrete surface atop of the aggregate base, (6) placing and compacting an aggregate base layer along the road shoulder, and (7) installing a metal guard rail between MP 6.50 and MP 6.58. The Project will result in impacts to 0.51 acres of Alameda whipsnake (Masticophis laterlis euryxanthus), California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense), and San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica) habitat including temporary impacts to 0.22 acres; the Project will permanently remove 0.29 acres of Alameda whipsnake, California tiger salamander and San Joaquin kit fox habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of Alameda whipsnake, California tiger salamander and San Joaquin kit fox, which are designated as threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
