Document Description
The project involves the approval of design documents for modification of the existing groundwater treatment plant to allow distribution of treated water to the San Gabriel Valley Water Company (SGVWC) for drinking water use. The plant is part of the remedial action selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) in the 1999 Interim Record of Decision Amendment for the Whittier Narrows Operable Unit (WNOU) of the San Gabriel Valley Area 1 Superfund Site issued in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, 42 U.S.C Section 9601 ET. seq., as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA) (collectively referred to herein as CERCLA) and to the extent practicable, the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan, 40 CFR Part 300 (NCP).
