The Adelanto Public Utility Agency Wastewater Treatment Plant 2013 Upgrades will modify and repurpose existing facilities enabling the facility to operate at the previously approved capacity of 4.0 mgd. Existing Biolac basins will be modified and the existing filters will be repurposed. Four additional filters will be installed when the average wastewater effluent flow approaches 3.3 mgd. Two New clarifiers will be constructed. Piping and pump elements related to the existing clarifiers will be reused to the maximum extent feasible. Recycle and waste sludge pumps for the new clarifiers will be purchased and situated in a new structure. Specific physical improvements include: Installation of screen at headworks; construction of two 70-foot diameter clarifiers and construction of a 1,440 square foot building. The environmental document also assesses potential impacts related to the operation of existing percolation Pond 9.
