Document Description
The Equestrian and Large Animal Overlay Ordinance includes standards and parameters to preserve the City's equestrian heritage while ensuring, that the animals on a property and associated uses and operations do not create a negative impact on the environment and the surrounding community. The Equestrian and Large Animal Overlay District proposes to create five different overlay categories (or Levels) throughout the City, namely "Level 1", "Level 2", "Level 3", "Bayberry", and "Boys Republic" (see Figure 1m Proposed Equestrian and Large Animal Overlay Areas). Each overlay Level will have standards for maximum number of animals allowed, permitted uses, and best management practices in order to comply with water quality requirements. The underlying General Plan Land Use and Zoning designation for the properties will not change; the purpose of the new Overlay is to permit equestrian and large animal businesses to operate while ensuring that they comply with water quality and other requirements.
