Document Description
Re-roof the historic Central Building at Sutter's Fort State Historic Park to maintain and protect a Cultural Resource. Work will remove the existing, failing, non-historic roof, install plywood sheathing on top of the existing framing to strengthen the roof diaphragm with new fascia board to cover the plywood; install light gauge metal strips aligned with the rafters over the ridge to transfer shear; insall combination shear and tension anchors and blocking and strapping to deliver seismic shear tension loads; install new cedar shakes.

Project consist of repair, maintenance and minor alteration of an existing public structure involving no expansion of use beyond current levels; replacement of existing structure where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure repalced and have substanitally the same purpose and capacity as the strucutre replaced and is included as "reroofing" in the California Department of Park and Recreation's list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR section 15300.4 and consists of the maintenance, repair and stabilization of historical resources in a manner consistent with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring and Reconstructing Historic Buildings (1995) Weeks and Grimmer.
