The project elements include: excavation and debris removal to enlarge the existing north embankment breach; excavation to breach the south embankment of Calhoun Cut; excavation of a starter channel; lowering of an existing earthen causeway; upland fill placement of material excavated from the breaches; and beneficial use of sediment excavated from the starter channel to create low habitat berms within the marsh and raise the remnant marsh plain to a more mature marsh plain form.
