Document Description
Capital Improvement Project to upgrade and increase sewer capacity for urban areas currently serviced by the portion of the existing Mineral King Sewer trunk line. The benefitting sites are all included in the City's existing growth plans, including the approved expansion of the Kaweah Delta Hospital, and the re-vitalization of the East Downtown area (generally Santa Fe Ave. to Ben Maddox Way). The existing sewer trunk line is located entirely within the existing right-of-way of Mineral King, between Locust and Ranch.
The project is programmed to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 is between Locust and Divisadero. Phase 2 is between Divisadero and Ranch. There is an alternate route in Phase 2 that would bypass the segment of Mineral King between Central and the merger of Burrel and Mineral King (linear distance of 1,750ft.). The total linear distance of the project (Phases 1 & 2) is 6,950 ft., (8,700 linear ft. if alternate route is chosen). Pipe sizes to be installed are 42-inch and 36-inch, replacing the existing 24-inch sewer main. Construction impacts are primarily removal of pavement and trenching approximately six feet in width to a depth adequate to expose the existing sewer pipe. Existing sewer pipes will be sealed in place with new pipe placed alongside the existing pipe.
