Document Description
Two separate projects are proposed that would consist of two individual contiguous solar facility sites, totaling 429 acres in the southeastern portion of Kern County, southwest of the community of Mojave. Each of the proposed solar facilities would develop and operate a 20 megawatt photovoltaic electric generation facility. The proposed projects would transmit energy through a substation on the RE Yakima project site to a 66 kV transmission line connecting the solar facilities with the existing Windhub Substation. The projects would require approval of Zone Changes (ZCC) and Conditional Use Permits (CUP) from the Kern County Board of Supervisors. The proposed zone changes would revise the existing zoning to A (Exclusive Agriculture) and A FPS (Exclusive Agriculture, Floodplain Secondary Combining) for both projects. The FPS zoning would continue to be applied in areas located within a flood zone. Construction and operation of solar electrical generating facilities are permitted on sites designated as A (Exclusive Agriculture) with approval of a CUP.
