Document Description
The purpose is to create a shaded fuel break from across Vista Point Road between the entry kiosk and the Vista Point parking lot, approximately 200 feet wide and 2 miles long, covering 48 acres in Castle Crags State Park to help protect the Park visitors, employees, and facilities, and the nearby town of Castella and Interstate 5 to prevent forest wildfire spreading. Work will selectively remove fuels including woody shrubs, downed trees, and other dead vegetation within 100 feet from either side of Vista Point Road leaving vegetation less susceptible to carrying wildfire and allow safer transit on the road in the event of wildfire.
