Document Description
This Project will restore 1,600 acres of tidal wetlands and associated habitats on Prospect Island. Project activities include levee repairs, dewatering the island, vegetation control, construction of internal restoration features, revegetation, weir construction, levee breaching, implementing avoidance and minimization measures, and post-restoration monitoring and maintenance. The Project will temporarily impact 960 acres of suitable aquatic habitat for Giant Garter Snake. Upon completion, the Project is expected to provide a net increase of 122 acres in aquatic foraging habitat and a net decrease of 24 acres non-wintering upland habitat. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of Giant Garter Snake which is designated as threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
