Document Description
The Department of Tox Substances Control approved the New Elementary and Middle School, Removal Action Workplan. The Site consists of 39 acres of vacant undeveloped land, located at 425 N. Lyon Avenue in San Jacinto, CA. The Site is surrounded by residential development to the north and east. Warneke Park is adjacent to the Site along the northwest across Lyon Avenue. The Site was used primarily as pasture land from the early 1900 through the mid-1960. However, based on the review of historic aerial photographs, the Site was used for irrigated agriculture during the mid to late 1960. A historic residence constructed in the late 1940 near the southwestern portion of the proposed school site and was demolished prior to 2005. The RAW consists of excavation and offsite disposal of approximately 240 cubc yards chlordane impacted soil. The contaminated impacted soil extends over an are 50 feet long by 40 feet wide by 3 feet deep. The chlordane is from the application of termiticides around the base of a former residence. The excavation will require one day to complete with approx. 16-18 trucks/
