Document Description
On April 21, 2015, the Oakland City Council adopted new zoning text and map changes, implementing the Coliseum Area Specific Plan (CASP), which was adopted separately, on March 31, 2015; also on March 31st, the Council adopted related general plan text and mapping amendments and certified the Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The CASP is intended to provide both a short-term development plan for the accommodation of up to three new venues for the City's professional sports teams, as well as a longer term, 20- to 25-year, planning document. The CASP includes, and the EIR analyzes, a development program that could permit up to three new professional sports venues, 5,750 new residential units, and the addition of approximately eight million square feet of new office, light industrial, logistics and retail space. Additionally, transportation and infrastructure improvements are recommended to address infrastructure deficiencies.
