Document Description
The Mendocino County Department of Transportation, in conjunction with Caltrans and FHWA proposes to seismically retrofit the Moore Street Bridge (Bridge # 10C-0048) over the Russian River in Mendocino County. Proposed seismic improvements include installation of shear keys and catcher blocks at each pier, requiring construction of additional concrete supports connected at the top of each bent cap or pier wall. In addition, large diameter Cast-in-Drilled-Hole (CIDH) piles will be placed behind both abutments to absorb a portion of the longitudinal seismic forces. The project will also include pavement rehabilitation of the approach roadways on both sides of the bridge. Along with seismic retrofit work, the proposed project will also include placement of Rock Slope Protection (RSP) around Piers 2 and 3 as a scour countermeasure. Construction staging will occur within the existing Moore Street right-of-way. Project construction is expected to be completed in 2013.
