Document Description
The City of Compton is reviewing the proposed operation of a dry Materials Recycling Facility in an existing 88,000 sf industrial manufacturing/warehouse building on an 11 acre site. The proposed project also involves the construction of a 10,000 sf expansion to the industrial building for material storage, raising a portion of the existing roof, a 6,000 sf office/employee center, 80 sf guard shack, and a rebuilt rear truck dock. The facility will be a 24 hour operation, however only two shifts will be working shifts. The third shift will be fore equipment maintenance. All sorting, processing and bailing operations will occur inside the industrial building. Baled materials will be stored in shipping containers or enclosed trailers in the rear of the site prior to shipment to the port of Long Beach. No exterior processing is proposed. The proposed capacity of the dry MRF is 1,200 tons per day.
