Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2016-0119-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, LA County Flood Control District. The watershed tributary to the Debris Basin could produce up to 63,100 cubic yards (cy) of debris. The current maximum storage capacity of the Debris Basin is only 20,000 cy. As a result, the neighborhood below the Debris Basin is exposed to significant debris impacts during storms, especially now that the watershed is burned. The purpose of the proposed Sunset Upper Debris Basin Dam Modification Project is to increase the capacity of the Debris Basin by up to 8,000 cy by raising the height of the dam.
