Document Description
The District is proposing to modify the definition of volatile organic compound (VOC) to include dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and propylene carbonate (PC) to the Distirct's list of exempt compounds. This action is in response to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) findings, effective February 2009, that DMC and PC have a low potential to form ozone in the atmosphere. The District is also proposing to remove use limitations for teriary-butyl acetate (TBAc) and methyl formate (MF). During the evaluation and risk assessment for the exemption of DMC and PC, District staff determined that the use limitations on TBAc and MF are redundant and unnecessry given the Risk Mamangement Review required by District Rules 2201 (New and Modified Station Source Reivew) and 2020 (Exemtions) for all compounds with potential risk.
