Document Description
The Project includes annual maintenance of two (2) wing dams in the Kern River. The dams are used to divert partial flows of the river into the Kernville Ditch water conveyance system. Work will be conducted during low flow conditions when the water level drops below the elevation of the ditch intake. The dam is constructed of existing natural cobble in the river. The eastern wing dam is approximately 110 feet long and 10 feet wide, and the western wing dam is approximately 160 feet long and 15 feet wide. An opening of at least 20 feet centered in the channel will allow water to continue flowing downstream.
