Document Description
SAA # 1600-2012-0184-R2, SMUD's proposed modification to the Rubicon Dam outlet works consists of adding a 36" remotely operated knife gate valve to the existing 36" flange with a 36" x 24" tee constructed of aluminum pipe. The two existing 10" discharge pipes will be removed and their valves kept normally closed. The 36" end of the new tee will have a blind flange to maintain the emergency drawdown capability and the 24" branch will feed a new 30-foot-fong, aluminum discharge pipe mounted to the toe of the dam. A new orifice plate with redundant differential pressure transducers will be included with the new discharge pipe to measure flow for compliance purposes.
