Document Description
The project is limited to the modification of an existing bridge over Icaria Creek. The current bridge is not built to local building codes and will be modified to comply with current county building codes. The project includes: (1) installing helical piers outside the top of bank on each side of the bridge in order to support new concrete bridge abutments; (2) excavating for the abutments by hand to minimize stream impacts; and (3) longer girders and additional bracing welded to the bottom of the bridge for additional support. During construction, a silt fence will be installed approximatelly half way down the stream bank to catch any soil that may fall towards the stream during hand excavation, and canvas sheets will be installed under the bridge during welding activities to prevent slag from entering the stream channel. The silt fence and canvas will be remoed from the site following completion of the retrofit. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2012-0402-3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
