Document Description
A portion of the hillside immediately north and uphill of the Capell Creek Bridge has been saturated by storm water flows and is sliding toward the roadway of SR 128 and the north abutment of the bridge. Caltrans has previously installed small plastic horizontal drains reaching about 200 feet into the hillside to remove water from the soil and prevent slippage of the affected earth mass. Over time, these drains have become clogged or have otherwise stopped functioning as designed, and the sliding hillside has opened a three-foot-wide gap between the bridge deck and the north abutment.
