General Plan Update

The City received a Focus Area #1 Local Sustainability Planning Grant through the Sustainable Communities Planning Grant and Incentives Program to prepare a General Plan Update. The update will include the addition of new sustainability-related goals and policies, a review of existing goals and policies, and an overall streamlining of the existing General Plan. Many of the goals and policies in the existing General Plan will remain intact, or be slightly modified to reflect current conditions, changes in legislation, or the intent of the grant. The update effort will include preparation of a new sustainability element that will explain the City's approach to meeting the goals expressed in Government Code Section 65041.1. The City is also updating the Zoning Code and possibly other parts of the Municipal Code in order to be consistent with the new goals and policies.
