Document Description
The purpose of the proposed project is to remedy structural seismic design deficiencies of the 23 bridges that were selected through the screening process per SB 36X. To remedy the ability of the brigs to withstand seismic movement in the transverse direction during an MCE, DWR has determined that all of the bridges' retrofits would require installing seat extenders and shear keys at abutments and some piers. The seat extenders provide a longer support area for the girders at abutments which in turn provides sufficient structural strength to provide restraint during an MCE. Additionally, two of the brigs (at Ranchero Street and Maple Avenue) require replacement of the deck. Deck replacement would help to remedy structural deficiencies in the deck by strengthening to support legal loads and to correct structural deficiencies noted during bridge inspections.
