The basic intertie includes the installation of a 12-inch diameter Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe, which would connect HBMWD's existing 33-inch diameter concrete lined steel pipe and the City of Arcata's 12-inch asbestos cement pipe (ACP). A water meter and valves would also be installed at the connection for operation and tracking of delivered water volumes. A Chlorination facility with a basic building on a slab, and a pre-engineered sodium hypochlorite tank, metering pump, controls, and an injector will be installed on the city's existing parcel.
The project will include the installation of approximately 920 linear feet of 12-inch PVC, a chlorination facility structure approximately 150 square feet in size, a 100-gallon sodium hypochlorite system consisting of a double walled plastic storage tank, metering pump with constols, and an injection system.
