Document Description
The District constructed a 73-acre detention basin and installed 2,200-feet of 30- 62-inch diameter piping. The piping connected the recharge basin to the existing Calaveras and Stanislaus River source connection, to the North Raw Water Reservoir, and connected an extraction well, Well 5, to the South Water Reservoir. By installing these connections, the new detention basin is also connected to East Raw Water Reservoir, South Flooded Field, Overflow Pond, and the treatment plant. The original piping for the well ran above ground and the new piping was installed below ground. A 64-foot², eight-foot tall electrical control building was also installed. The Project will not increase the amount of water treated, but will provide for better quality water, by allowing for the use of stored basin water with lower turbidity during high river turbidity periods.
