Document Description
The Department of Fish and Game is issuing a permit to Dr. Loren Rieseberg, Katherine Ostevik, and Brook Moyers pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) for a project to study the repeatability of dune adaptation in three sunflower species. Only one species, Algodones Dunes sunflower, is located in California. The researchers will collect one ripe flower head from fewer than or equal to 5 individual Algodens Dunes sunflower plants per population that have multiple flower heads. The researchers will collect a flower head from 5% of the individuals in small populations pr frp, 5 individuals in larger populations. The researchers will collect from a maximum of 20 population. Seeds will be transported to the University of Bristish Columbia and cultivated in a common garden in a greenhouse where traits such as branch architecture and seed size will be measured.
