Document Description
Using only State funds, the California Department of Transportation, (Caltrans), will repair slip-outs and slides caused by heavy rain at several cut and one fill location on (SR) 299 near the Community of Montgomery Creek in Shasta County. Most of the work will requrie excavating the unstable materials and replacing it with large rock slope protection (RSP). The excavated spoils will be placed in an approved Caltrans disposal site. The purpose and need: The slippage at the fill embankment has compromised the structural section of roadway. The damage to cut embankments deposits material directly onto the highway. Both situations make traevl unsafe. This project will remove loose, unconsilidated soils and replace them with stable, not-eroded material.
