Document Description
The Westside Community Improvement Association (WCIA) is seeking a Conditional Use Permit and Merger for a community center and park at the former Jefferson Elementary School Site. The proposed project (Project) is to convert the school grounds into a public park, playground and public recreation facility, including community gardens, walking paths, open space, basketball court, bocce court, restrooms, and parking. The south wing of the existing building will be solely as a public charter school and the north wing will be used as the community center. The project includes non-structural renovation of the existing buildings, removal of two existing portable buildings, and construction of a new building to replace the portable buildings. The new building will be used as a community library and nursery center, and the north wing will house a multi-purpose room, community recreation room, community kitchen and restrooms. The proposed project would convert approximately 0.72 acres (31,494 square feet) of asphalt into green space to create the park with both lawn and native trees.
