The proposed substatio is currently vacant and zoned low density residential as per the Sacramento County General Plan
Document Description
The proposed project consists of dismantling an existing SMUD substation, constructing a new replacement substation, and altering the proposed alignment for the overhead 69,000-volt (69kV) subtransmission line that would connect to the relocated substation. The proposed project would accommodate the County of Sacramento's Hazel Avenue Widening Project and to respond to future demand for electrical service in the service area. In this IS/MND, SMUD evaluated two option substation locations; SMUD's Board of Directors approved Site B (the northern site) for construction of the new replacement substation.
