Document Description
The proposed project includes the expansion of the current composting operations that occur on the northern 56 acres of the 104-acre site. The capacity of the facility is currently limited to 50,000 cubic yards on site and the receipt of 300 tons of material per day. The proposed project would increase the maximum site capacity to 190,000 cy and allow the receipt of up to 700 tons per day. The proposed project would also allow for the acceptance and processing of additional feedstock materials, including food waste (either co-collected with yard waste or from commercial sources or agricultural sources). The proposed project would expand the existing 56-acre permitted area to include an additional 17 acres within the site's 104-acre boundary to accommodate the use of an overflow pond and retention pond and retention pond, and for the storage of finished compost material. The proposed project also includes a new 1-megawatt (gross) biomass gasification unit to generate renewable electricity from clean wood chips. Additionally, the project includes a request to rezone from Agricultural Preserve (A-P) to Agricultural Industrial (AGI).
