Document Description
A temporary emergency Hazardous Waste Treatment Permit has been granted to Edwards Air Force Base (Edwards) to treat hazardous waste by chemical neutralization. The hazardous waste to be treated consists of 93 compressed gas cylinders containing chlorine triflouride, oxygen difluoride, and perchloryl fluoride compounds used as rocket propellant. The total weight of the rocket grade oxidizer to be neultralized is approximately 4661 lbs. The items have been in storage at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Fuels Storage Areas (Test Area 1-39) within Edwards. Treatment will be carried out by integrated Environmental Services, Inc. (IES) under the supervision of AFRL personnel. The treatment site is located on a military installation with controlled entry.
