Document Description
The purpose of this project is to replace an ineffective culvert, upstream from the Vineyard Sediment Basin with a more effective storm water conduit. The existing culvert continually degrades the basin inlet and road which prompted the need for this project. The basin is fed by an ephemeral tributary, and traps sediment. Flows entering the basin are concentrated and delivered via a 3.0 foot diameter culvert that spans the width of Garner Flat Road (roughly 15 feet). Currently, the end of the inlet culvert pipe is suspended roughly nine feet from the bottom of the basin. The distance between the end of the culvert and the bottom of the basin is of concern as the sudden drop in gradient increases the potential energy of incoming flows.
