Document Description
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has determined that the hot water boiler system at Richmond Lab, which was construction in 2001, is out of compliance with current air quality requirements. The proposed project would improve the functionality and energy efficiency of the existing boiler system by replacing the 6 existing boilers with 11 smaller, more efficient boilers. The 11-boiler-system would allow for subsequent boilers to be brought online as the demand for hot water increased, as opposed to the 6-boiler-system, which heats larger quantities of water that may or may not be used.
