Document Description
This project is to close and restore a redundant part of Chaparral Trail in the Upper Ranch of hollister Hills SVRA. Currently there are two steep climbing trails right out of the Sycamore campground, Blue Oak and Chaparral. Both of these trails go to the same place and provide the same type of recreation. The portion of the Chaparral trail is generally less sustainable due to its placement on the slope and is losing more top soil from erosion. The entrance to the current Chaparral Trail is in a desireable location just outside the campground while Blue Oak comes out from the middle of a potential camp site. To better the traffic flow in the campground this project will also re-route the current trail entrance to Chaparral into Blue Oak Trail about 100 feet after the start of the trail. The new connector trail will be about 125 feet long and will avoid existing trees.
