Document Description
The Project consists of the lowering by notching a small concrete and rock dam to remove a barrier to migrating steelhead and to provide access of up to 12 additional miles of habitat. The existing notch of the dam lowered approximately 4 feet to reduce the steelhead jump height over the dam. The notching of the dam will be accomplished by hand with pneumatic rock hammers powered by an off-site air compressor. The mortar that currently holds the small boulders together will be chipped away until each boulder can be manually removed. Removed grout and smaller debris will be prevented from entering the stream during project activities by placing tarps and canvas hammocks under the work area. The collected debris will be hauled out of the area by people and disposed of at an offsite location.
