- The proposed project would involve demolition of the existing building and surface parking lot and construction of 81 apartments units in a five-story building over a 49-stall sub-surface parking garage. The building would be divided into 18 distinct volumes intended to resemble separate buildings. Total gross building area including the subterranean garage would be about 101,070 sf. The proposed project also includes a request for a number of Use Permits under the Berkeley Zoning Ordinance, and waivers/modifications and incentives/concessions under State Density Bonus Law (CA Government Code Section 65915).
