Document Description
A draft SEA/EIR has been prepared for the Folsom Dam Modification Project - Water Control Manual Update. The purpose of the proposed action is to reduce flood risk and improve dam safety in the Sac Metro Area by implementing operational changes of the new auxiliary spillway. The new operations will meet goal associated with dam safety and flood damage reduction benefits including: 1) passing the Probably Max Flood with three ft of free board; 2) controlling a 1/100 annual chance event, 3) control a 1/200 annual change event; 4) reducing variable space storage from 400,000-670,000 acre ft to the National Weather Service. Environmental effects evaluated in detail include hydrology, water supply and deliveries, biological resources, recreation, hydropower, and cultural resources. Cultural resources impacts could be potentially significant and unavoidable.
