Document Description
The project consists of the construction and installation of new water storage and conveyance facilities consisting of two new reservoirs, a booster pumping station, and water distribution system pipelines. The Department intends to construct these facilities in the Moonridge and Sugarloaf areas. The proposed project is the construction and installation of water reservoirs, a booster pumping station, water distribution pipelines, and associated appurtenances. The proposed water facilities will be located within the DWP's Service Area within the jurisdiction of the City of Big Bear Lake and the County of San Bernardino. The objective of the proposed water reservoirs, booster pumping station, and distribution pipelines is to enhance fire flow capacity, augment circulation in the distribution system, and reduce energy consumption. The Department's Water Master Plan (2006) evaluated existing reservoirs and distribution pipelines within the Department's water service system. Distribution and storage facilities within various areas of the Department's service system were determined to be undersized and deficient to meet fire flow requirements. The proposed new and replacement distribution pipelines would be 12 inches and 8 inches in diameter to meet the Department's fire flow requirements.
