The project is located within the limits of the City of Indio, in Riverside County, at the intersection of Varner Road and Jefferson Street. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve the operational performance of the Varner Road/Jefferson Street intersection. The proposed project involves modifying the existing Varner Road/Jefferson Street intersection, including widening Varner Road approximately 1,830 feet east and 675 feet west of Jefferson Street from two to four lanes of travel, as well as widening Jefferson Street north of its intersection at Varner Road from four to six lanes to approximately Sun City Boulevard. The proposed project would also accommodate the planned modification of the existing I-10/Jefferson Street interchange.
