Document Description
SMUD proposes to replace insulators and vibration dampers on approximately 80 transmission towers. Construction would be performed using helicopters to move material and line workers to each individual tower structure; therefore, ground-level disturbance will be minimized. Eight landing zones measuring approximately 100 by 100 feet have been identified along the transmission line, which will be used for material staging and helicopter re-fueling operations. Additional material staging will take place at a SMUD substation in the project vicinity and materials will be transported by delivery trucks via public roads. Construction activities are scheduled to begin on October 1 and would be completed by October 26th, 2012.
