Document Description
The Sierra Streams Institue is requesting $75,000 in funding from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy's Proposition 84 Healthy Forest Grant Program to complete the Land Management Plan for the 85.24-acre wildlife habitat area surrounding Hirschman's Pond. Project activities include data collection, development of a land management plan, environmental document preparation, and permitting for brush and ladder fuel reduction activities on the project area. The purpose of this project is to gather information, prepare a land management plan, the prepare CEQA compliance documentation and permit applicatons to secure approval to implement fuel reduction activities. Future project implementation would result in a healthier forest, improve wildlife habitat, improve recreation opportunities, reduced fire risk, and protection of water quality in Woods Ravine, a tributary to Deer Creek.
