Document Description
The Department of Fish and Game is issuing a permit to Matt Guilliams pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) for five research projects. The first research project involves collection of the species Plagiobothrys strictus for a study of the systematics fo the genus Plagiobothrys and seed collection for ex-situ conservation storage. The second research project is an examination of narrow endemism of several species in the genus Cirsium, expecially to wetland settings, and reduced ability to disperse propagules relative to more widespread memeber of the genus. The thrid research project will utilize a biomechanics approach to examine wind dispersal of several species in the genus Cirsium. The fourth project will involve serveral activities to imvestigate the role of ants in dispersing seeds from several speciesin the genus Cirsium and will involve experiments in the field at Crystal Springs Reservoir. The fifth research project will examine the arthropod fauna of the flower heads of several species in the genus Cirsium, and quantify the effects of non-native arthropod species on varieties of the species on varieties of the species Cirsium fontinale.
