PG&E plans to install 4 additional culverts along Pit River Canyon Road. The location of these new culverts will be strategically placed on surveyed locations for major collection of surface drainage. PG&E will replace three existing undersized and/or failed culverts and place two new culverts, including metal downdrains, flared and sections, tee branch connection, concrete headwalls, and rock slope protection at inlet and outlet structures. The addition of the culverts along Pit 4 road will upgrade, improve safety, and address resource agencies' concerns including meeting the safety requirements of the USFS Road Management Objectives and the Visual Management Plan.

The project consists of replacing existing culverts to improve drainage and road conditions at two sites (Malinda Gulch and Blackberry Creek) and installing new culverts at Ruling Creek and Ruling Sprint (the latter will be installed close to the previous culvert) to fulfill the same function of conveying water beneath the road and restoring flow to existing drainages.
