Document Description
The project work are consists of two noncontiguous segments located on the Sherman Island Levee. The project work area begins at the water side levee crest hinge point and continues landward, including the land side levee slopes of the existing levee. The 4.02-mi long eastern segment begins at Levee Station 333+00 (Lat: 38.0499; Long: 121.7039; WGS84) and ends at Levee Station 545+00 (Lat: 38.0332; Long: 121.7679). The project work area borders the San Joaquin River and Gallagher Slough. A scour pond created by a 1969 breach in the levee adjacent to the San Joaquin River occurs near the western portion of the project work area just west of the Antioch Bridge on the landward side of the levee. Sherm Island East Levee Road (a paved two-lane road) occurs on top of the levee through most of this eastern portion of the work area.
