Document Description
The top of the sewer pipeline is currently exposed in the bed of the channel, and active bank erosion is occurring near a manhole. The South Tahoe Public Utility District (District) has decided to move forward with a protection design that includes three rock riffle grade control structures. One structure would be located on the secondary channel and two on the main channel. The two structures on the main channel allow two small steps in bed profile to be created that would restore about 6 inches of cover over the sewer pipeline. Additionally, a section of about 85 linear feet of vegetated rock slope stabilization would be constructed to protect the bank in the vicinity of the manhole. At the upstream end of the rock slope protection, a rock key will be constructed to reduce the risk of flanking in the event of upstream bank migration. Vegetative and bio-technical measures will be incorporated into the bed and bank protection.
