Document Description
Reconfigure San Miguel campground roadway at Carpinteria State Beach by removing existing pavement striping, apply new asphalt seal coat and place new pavement striping. Remove and replace asphalt walkway paving at Santa Rosa and San Miguel campground, construct new ADA ramps. Remove 48 non-native eucalyptus and 3 non-native myoporum trees per recommendation of CCD Tree Hazard inspector. Shallow root systems of impacted trees create a hazardous condition by uplifting and cracking existing road and walkway surface. Additionally, repairs to existing surface requires disturbance to root zones that would adversely affect the vigor of trees if allowed to remain adjacent to the roadway. All ground disturbing work will be monitored by a DPR archaeologist and an appropriate Native American monitor for the area. This project will improve visitor services and protect public safety.
