Document Description
The approximately 600-acre Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve is the largest remaining tidal wetland area remaining in the Los Angeles area, and restoration and management of this degraded wetland is the focus of this project. To create a restoration plan baseline data collection of muliple resources on-site is necessary. Data collection will include geotechnical soil borings, and biological assessments and samplings. Geotechnical soil borings will be located primarily in areas that are already disturbed, and will be taken during the non-breeding season (August - February) to avoid impact to breeding birds. Borings will be 4-8 inches in diameter and from 20 to 70 feet deep.
