Document Description
The proposed New Academic Center would replace four existing older buildings on the same site as follows: Harlan Center, Business Management Center, Onley Hall and the Administration Building. The project would also remove the Taquiera restaurant on the corner of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and College Avenue. The Austin Science Center (51,236 sf) in the vicinity of Parking Lot 6 was originally planned for removal as part of the 2007 Implementation Plan. The Science Center is now proposed to be retained and to be used for general education classrooms and related support / storage spaces and faculty and staff offices. This CEQA evaluation will address both the NAC and the retention of the Austin Science Center. However, it should be noted that the retention of the Austin Science Center is not expected to alter this estimated enrollment that was analyzed in the Program EIR. As such, the proposed NAC and retention of the Austin Science Center would have no growth-inducing impacts for the campus.
